Self Care with Food and Herbs – Full Course (Second Payment)

This is the second payment for the full Self Care with Food and Herbs course.

Self Care 1: Basics on Saturday 28 March 2023 from 10am – 1pm
An introduction to the principles and practice of food/plant medicine. We learn how to identify the mint family and how these beautiful aromatic plants affect the body/mind with basic plant therapeutics. We taste teas and herbs, and cover the different ways in which foods and plants are used as medicine, from simple chewing to creams and tinctures. Together we make a herb crush and a quick, delicious, all-nourishing breakfast, discovering how each ingredient supports our energy, mood, health and wellbeing.

Self Care 2: Digestive Discomforts on Saturday 25 November 2023 from 10am – 1pm
We look at how digestion works, understanding common digestive problems. We will taste and compare digestive teas/herbs and learn about plant actions.  We will make various remedies, including a grain/pulse dish, digestive decoction, mucilage powder mix and pestos.

Self Care 3: Sleep, Anxiety & Fatigue on Saturday 27 January 2024 from 10am – 1pm
We will be looking at how our nerves and hormones function and understanding insomnia, anxiety, fatigue and headaches.  We will identify the bean family food and make the following remedies: hot valerian chocolate, essential oils hand/foot bath, and lavender tincture.

Self Care 4: Skin & First Aid on Saturday 24 February 2024 from 10am – 1pm
We will be looking at first aid and skin problems.  We will identify the daisy family, and be making the following remedies: infused oil, ointment, cream and lotion.

Self Care 5: Coughs, Colds & Allergies on Saturday 23 March 2024 from 10am – 1pm
In this session we will explore how our immune system functions, and understanding coughs, colds, and allergies.  We will learn how to eat to improve resilience to infection.  We will be identifying the rose family, and making the following remedies: inhalation, vapour rub, throat decoction spray and gargle.

For all sessions, you will receive a comprehensive handout of the principles and therapeutics of food and plants as medicine, with recipes centered around the session.  You will also take away the remedies you have made.
